Biography

She was born in 1976 in Angoulême, France. Her favorite artistic discipline is acrylic painting on canvas and fabric.

She started painting 20 years ago, during her scientific studies in Poitiers, France, by taking nude drawing classes in a workshop to prepare for the Beaux Arts. Then, when she arrived in French Guyana in 2000, painting really took hold. At the beginning, mainly on recuperated supports, wood, fabrics, paintings marked by nudes and very colorful portraits, of Guyanese influence.

Passionate about nature and travel, she now lives between French Polynesia and Guyana.

A first exhibition of paintings on recycled materials was held in the city of Saint-Laurent du Maroni in French Guiana, in March 2005.

From 2007 to 2012, she created a business creating unique hand-painted textiles, in collaboration with the brand TAMANDUA, in French Guiana and exhibited her paintings and textile creations again at the tourist office in Saint-Laurent du Maroni.

In 2012, she decided to take a break from the corporate world and paint only for her leisure time in order to devote herself entirely to her family, which consisted of three young children that she raised with her spouse in the middle of the Guiana jungle, in an open wooden house or "carbet", with solar energy and rainwater recovery.

In 2019, while living in the Marquesas Islands, on the small island of Ua Pou, she resumed her artistic path by sharing her works on the net and devoted herself again to textile creation but adding one of her fundamental values, respect for nature. She creates unique, ethical and ecological hand-painted bags whose themes are represented in color by the sea, the earth and nature.

From 2021, she undertakes several virtual exhibitions from her social networks and participates in several joint exhibitions in person:

- at the Anuanua Gallery in Raiatea on the theme of water in May 2021

- then the common exhibition "Enluminures de Polynésie" at the gallery au Chevalet in Papeete in December 2021.

An exhibition in duo with the artist Caroline Gaucher is planned at the Maison de la Culture in Papeete in March 2022

Artistic approach

Currently, installed on the island of Raiatea, and soon back in the Guyanese forest, her creations on canvas are always colorful, inspired by these two places of life, and evoke humanity, interculturality, femininity and the need to respect the nature that surrounds us.

She likes to mix both portrait and figurative nature with fluid paint mixes, whose colors are borrowed from nature like different shades of blue, ochre, her own color...in a spontaneous and uncontrolled way. Sometimes, she adds to this association, calligraphy which accentuates the link in her paintings between the past and the words of the present.

Finally, passionate about travel, human beings, and the message of emotions, most of her paintings represent portraits of powerful, determined women, caught between two cultures, that of the past and that of the present, that of the ancient traditions and that of the crossbreeding of the French Overseas.
