Biography
Born in 1958 in Quebec, resident of the Mauricie region, Linda Blais has been drawn to art since her early teens. Her father, gifted with a natural talent for drawing and an interest in learning different mediums such as oil, acrylic, charcoal, pastel and watercolor, influenced her artistic path.
Her journey really began in 2014, a year before her retirement, when she decided to take a group painting course. Fascinated by colors and the interplay of light and shadow to give shape to works, she quickly developed a passion for artistic expression.
Over the course of 2014 to 2017, the artist became familiar with color mixing, working mainly with acrylic paint. She began painting from photographs, quickly modifying the subjects to fully express her creativity.
In 2017, still seeking artistic evolution, Ms. Blais decided to consult a professional artist. When asked what she would like to paint, her answer was instantaneous: to paint a landscape directly without resorting to a photo. Guided by this new approach, she created two canvases spontaneously, without thought or expectation, surprising herself with her own abilities in this artistic exercise.
Her paintings reflect her constant evolution and boundless creativity, making her a unique and talented artist in the world of painting.
Artistic approach
Since 2017, my artistic journey has been enriched by the constant exploration of different mixed techniques and mediums. For me, this endless apprenticeship in art is much more than just a creative process; it's a true passion. In a perpetual state of creativity and curiosity, I embark on an artistic quest towards the abstract, realizing with wonder that, even in this perspective, nature remains a fundamental element.
Nature is my refuge, an inexhaustible source of inspiration, and plays an essential role in my creative process. My painting, which has become gestural over time, is mainly influenced by the harmony of colors and the interplay of light and shadow. Each canvas is a subjective pictorial expression, dominated by movement and spontaneity of form.
My artistic approach is rooted in the present and contemplation, exploring a space of interiority where the forces of nature become my main motivation. It's a deep immersion in the natural elements, an attempt to capture the very essence of their energy.
